LAST CALL FOR BREWING! Barleycorn's to Close in Early May After almost 20 years in business, we regret to announce the closing of Barleycorn’s Craft Brew. Our lease is expiring and a decision has been made to liquidate and conclude our operations of providing beer brewing and wine making services to the greater Boston community. It has been an extraordinary experience and a great run, with tremendous people and organizations. Normal operations will continue until the beginning of May, so there is still time to get your final brews in with us here at Barleycorn’s. The final date for brewing will be April 16th with a final bottling date of April 30th. Homebrew supplies are still available as well. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers through these past two decades.

HOP HASH AND SCOTTISH ALE COOPERATIVE BREW Tuesday, February 7, 5 PM Hoppy and Malty Febrewary! Hop Hash is a very pungent hop powder that is a by product of the hop pelletization process. As whole hop cones are processed into the pellets that are most commonly used in beer brewing, small amounts of the lupulin powder collect on the screens and hammer mills. These sticky resins are then scraped off to collect this potent product. Used as a late kettle addition, this relatively new product produces deliciously dank and juicy beers with huge hop aromas. Some commercial examples of Hop Hash beers are Sweetwater's Hop Hash Double IPA and Caldera's Hop Hash. Our version of a Hop Hash IPA uses Idaho 7 Hop Hash to produce beers with strong, pungent tropical fruit and citrus notes with hints of black tea. Our companion beer for this month's Cooperative brew is a Scottish Ale. This beer is full bodied and malty with low hop levels. Traditional English hops are judiciously used to balance the beer while letting the rich caramel malt flavors shine through. A small addition of smoked malt adds complexity and character to this brownish, copper colored classic. Some commercial examples include Belhaven, Kilt Lifter and Three Floyd's Robert the Bruce. Join us as we brew these two contrasting beer styles. This is going to be huge! Brewing will begin at 5:00 PM on Tuesday February 7th. Refreshments and pizzas will be served during the brewing. Choose as much of the beers as you would like to have, $35 per case exclusive of the bottles. Bottling will take place on Tuesday February 28th any time during our regular business hours from 2:00-8:00 PM. Call or email today to let us know how much of each of the beers you would like to get.
