Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) began on March 1st, 1967 consisting of four stations providing services to a population of 90,000 residents. Today’s Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services covers approx. 144 square miles and protects approx. 275,000 residents. The department consists of 14 stations, 8 ladder trucks, 9 engines, 12 ambulances, and 9 specialty units ( hazmat truck, GSAR rig, boats, Air & ).

The 367 member force not only provide fire protect but each state certified firefighter is either a Hazard Materials Operator or Technician as well as a state licensed EMT or Paramedic. Additionally our special operations members serve as bike patrol medics, members of Georgia Search and Rescue (specially trained in rope rescue, confined space, trench collapse and structural collapse), and those dual certified as peace officers and paramedics comprise our Tactical Medic Corp, responding with local and federal tactical response teams on high risk callout and warrant service.

In conjunction with fire/EMS protection, CCFES is responsible for Clayton County’s Emergency Management Operations. Clayton County EMA not only manages emergency operations during large scale events, Clayton County EMA hosts educational opportunities for the community at-large, such as CERT training and other courses.
