Vehicle Burglary Arrest: On June 18, 2017 at approximately 11:00pm, the Altamonte Springs Police Department responded to the Forest Edge Subdivision, in the City of Altamonte Springs, after a witness saw two males enter his neighbor’s vehicle. As officers arrived on scene, the victim advised his handgun was stolen from his vehicle. A perimeter was established and with the assistance of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the Longwood Police Department, both suspects were located and placed in custody. They were identified as Latrell Omari Aikens, 15, and Andreus Stephoan Morris, 17. The victim’s handgun, holster, magazine, and ammunition were all recovered. We value our long standing partnership with the Central Florida community and continue to encourages citizens to be the “eyes and ears” for law enforcement. We would much rather investigate a call that turns out to be false, than miss an opportunity to deter crime.

Please join us in welcoming Officer Medugno! Officer Medugno comes to us after serving several years at the Winter Springs Police Department. We are happy to have him join the ASPD family! We also took the opportunity to recognize several officers for their ability to act in two high stress situations. PFC Gagliardi was awarded the prestigious Medal of Merit for her valiant actions. On May 14, 2017, PFC Gagliardi used her quick thinking, decisive actions, and calm demeanor to talk a trouble young man down from the ledge of a 4 story parking structure, preventing him from talking his own life. Lieutenant Ramirez, MPO Tolone and SPO Smith were awarded the Life Saving Award for operating with a sense of urgency to save a life. On March 30, 2017, Lieutenant Ramirez, MPO Tolone and SPO Smith responded to a wellbeing check. Once on scene, they discovered an unresponsive male inside. Lieutenant Ramirez, MPO Tolone and SPO Smith along with the Seminole County Fire Department were able to move the male and place him in the recovery position which allowed his airway to be cleared, and he began breathing. Through their efforts the male was able to make a full recovery. We commend everyone on a job well done and hope you continue to serve the community proudly. Congratulations to all!
