BMFB has more fresh and frozen product than can be handled by its agencies thus, via the Mobile Pantry, it delivers these products directly to communities in need throughout North Central Florida. Trucks are loaded with 4 to 5 pallets of food, depending on product availability.
The Child Nutrition programs provide nutritious meals and snacks to children in North Central Florida. We continue to increase our integration of nutrition education into our child programs. The Summer Food program works with community partners to provide breakfast and lunch to kids during the summer months while school is out for the summer break. The After School Snack program works with community partners during the school year to distribute a healthy snack to children enrolled in a qualifying after school enrichment program.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is an outreach program that provides a single application process for emergency food help and medical financial assistance for individuals and families.
Major Fundraiser
BMFB hosts the Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser with the goal of promoting hunger awareness, raising much needed funds, and showing support for those who are coping with hunger in North Central Florida. Since its inception in 2012, the Annual Empty Bowls event has raised $89, which allows BMFB to better support its over 157 agency partners in the effort to stop hunger.
