Sunshine Pantry is a non-profit pantry offering food, clothing, household items, toys and toiletries to families in need in Beaverton, Oregon. The Pantry spreads warmth, happiness and love to everyone who comes through their doors in trying times.
Founder, Sharon Straus, started Sunshine Pantry as a project for her son's Cub Scout Pack in 1982. The project grew because the need exists in the community. The Sunshine Pantry expanded to help more individuals, families, and community institutions. After 25 years of operating at the Straus home, the Sunshine Pantry relocated in February 2007 to their current location. We have now just moved to a larger location to better serve the community. The Pantry currently helps over 900 families each month.
The Sunshine Pantry is currently relying mostly on donations of food, clothing and other items from businesses and individuals. Cash donations are used to bring in food and other items not usually available through donations.
Organizations that have a community service goal are welcome to help with canned food drives or help at the Pantry. Individuals wanting to get involved with a meaningful and rewarding program are also encouraged to help.
