46th Annual Monroe Congregational Church Strawberry Festival! Saturday, June 17th from 10:00 to 5:00 and Sunday, June 18th from 12:00 to 5:00 on the Monroe Green, Route 111, Monroe, Connecticut. The quintessential New England church fair is back! Come enjoy the 46th Annual Strawberry Festival on the Monroe Green. It is an old fashioned church festival for the whole family! This is the 46th modern Strawberry Festival following a tradition started in the late 1800’s. Freshly picked strawberries are served in our famous strawberry shortcake, whole berry pies, smoothies and chocolate dipped creations, and our award winning strawberry jams! We even have special strawberry souvenir items. The church will also be serving hamburgers and hot dogs so you can enjoy lunch or an early dinner at the Strawberry Festival. In past years, over 2 tons of berries have been used in our delectable creations with nearly 1,800 lbs of strawberries hand picked locally at Jones Family Farm in Shelton. If you have never been before, let this be the year you discover a wonderful early summer tradition! There will be inexpensive games for children and live entertainment too. Over 90 juried crafters and fine artists from the East Coast will be selling their handmade items and paintings on the Green. Shop for flowers, clothing, fine art, jewelry, furniture, toys, glass, pottery, crafts of wood and metal and much more. This is a marvelous opportunity to find that special gift for any occasion or treat dad on Father’s Day! No admission fee and parking is free. Just follow Route 111 to the Monroe Green. Call the church at 203-268-9327 weekdays for further information or PR Coordinator Angela Cross at 203-394-7145.

There are options on the table and not all are based on revenue. Lots of excess spending has been documented. Work twitter.com/i/web/status/8…

Skilled volunteers needed for community project. On June 24th the people from Homefront, Charter Communications and Spectrum will be doing much needed repairs to the Monroe Food Pantry. These repairs include replacing windows, doors, trim and painting the exterior and possibly the interior of the pantry. It also includes much needed work on the grounds. Trimming trees, and general gardening. We are looking for volunteers to assist in this project. What we need are people with some experience in the areas of painting, light construction and gardening. This doesn't mean you need to be a professional, DIY experience would be acceptable. This is an all day project and we need As many volunteers as possible to make this happen. This is a great way to make a difference and to give back to the community. If you are interested please email me at wjolls@monroect.org.
