Autism Connection of Pennsylvania shared CBS News's post.
We have been training Pittsburgh Bureau of Police recruits and, with colleagues, police officers from other municipalities over the past several years. We hope to help prevent this kind of situation. We decided to share this story because the boy involved is representing himself in this coverage. This lets us all see the direct impact on him, and on others in his situation who cannot speak for themselves.
The cop tackled the boy after mistaking his mannerisms for signs of drug use.
