Golden Krust® is a premier producer and the largest franchisor of Caribbean food sold in over 25,000 retail locations and over 120 franchise restaurants throughout North America. We exist to provide the taste of the Caribbean to the world. The company was founded in 1989 by Lowell F. Hawthorne and his siblings in the Bronx, New York. The original bakery exists today, producing nearly 40 million Jamaican patties per year and employing over 300 teammates.

COMPANY HISTORY
In 1989, Lowell Hawthorne, our Founder along with his wife Lorna, four of his siblings and their spouses, pooled their resources to open the first Golden Krust retail location on East Gun Hill Road in Bronx, NY. By 1996, the Hawthorne family owned 17 restaurants throughout New York City. The business became so successful that the Hawthornes were encouraged to create franchises and they seized the opportunity to do just that.

In 1996, Golden Krust became the first Caribbean-owned business in the United States to be granted a franchise license. The pivotal year of 1996 signified Golden Krust's relocation to its production facilities in the South Bronx, eventually purchasing nearly an entire block from 172nd Street to Claremont Parkway on Park Avenue.

Fueling this growth are the 25,000 and growing retail locations where our Golden Krust products are sold, including Walmart Supercenters, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, Publix Supermarkets, Kroger and Costco.

Today, Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurants has franchised more than 120 restaurants in nine states and Ontario, Canada.
