Melrose Senior Community Center

Melrose Center, under Common Thread International, Inc. (a 501(C)3 Non Profit Organization established in 2010) and doing business as "Common Thread", is a Community Cafe that offers a music venue, catering, health and wellness fairs, Covid Vaccine Clinics, HIV and Cholesterol Testing, and a variety of Health and Wellness services to a four county area.

Our Mission: Is to provide a Beautiful and Sustainable Community Space where friends and neighbors can safely gather for special events, health and wellness education, live music, arts and entertainment, nutrition programs, diabetes classes, games and to just be together as One Human Family.

Our Vision: Is to provide a first class Thriving Community Venue where we can expand Community Heath and Wellness Services in several of Florida's poorest counties.

Our Core Value: Loving our Neighbors Well. Improving Health and Wellness services to our 4 County Community. Providing Excellent Nutritious food for Eat In or Take Out. Providing a Central focal point for Successful Aging in Place. Promoting a Fun, Family Friendly Venue for local artist, musicians and entertainers of all ages! Celebrating the Beautiful Diversity of our Community!

Bruce Waite, Ph. D., Executive Director of Common Thread, has been a Non Profit and or For Profit Executive Director since 1985. Programs he has managed include employment and training programs, Vocational Rehab Service, Division of Blind Service programs, USDA programs to food insecure areas and much much more.

The Melrose Center Community Cafe Program and Common Thread could not be successful without the continued support of its STELLAR Volunteers, Local Partners, and Local Donations in addition to grants and other sources of funding. We partner with the University of Florida, County Health Departments, North Florida Regional and Shands Hospitals. We appreciate the tremendous Community Support!!!
