The San Antonio Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission has begun its annual Citywide Artwork Contest. Artists in Bexar County, especially student artists, are encouraged to apply. WORK IN PROGRESS: This week, Public Art San Antonio visited with artists Oscar Alvarado and David Blancas, who have been hard at work with George Cisneros of URBAN-15 GROUP on their World Heritage Mural project that will transform four US90 underpasses into a colorful gallery celebrating the stories, history, and heritage of the surrounding area. This fall, we’ll install 100 mural vignettes painted by David and vivid mosaic frames by Oscar that showcase the people and places of these neighborhoods.
