Founded in 1966 by Dr. George “Pete” Harris and others who recognized that mental health services in the Lakes Region were difficult to access, the organization that began as the Lakes Region Mental Health Center has evolved into Genesis Behavioral Health. Today, Genesis Behavioral Health serves over 3,000 people living with mental illness and/or emotional distress each year in Belknap and southern Grafton Counties. The agency employs 135 people and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
