The New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council, a 501(c)3 membership organization, traces its origins to 1944, when the US Department of State opened a reception center in New Orleans to welcome international visitors. NOCDC is now an affiliate of Global Ties US, which partners with the State Department International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) to bring current and future leaders from around the world to communities throughout the United States.
More than 350 IVLP alumni are current or former Heads of State, including:

Although our name and affiliation have changed over the years, NOCDC's mission to promote citizen diplomacy has remained constant. Each year, NOCDC makes arrangements for over 500 international visitors from more than 145 different countries, bringing them together with our members and with professional resources in our local community.
