Happy #triviatuesday everyone! This week's fun tidbit is all about the Abernathy House! Our amazing Abernathy House is named after a prominent merchant, Wyatt Thomas Abernathy, who purchased the house from the Locke family after relocating to Key West from Tennessee in the late 1890s. Though the Abernathy House was built a few years after the Locke House, and not in the typical Victorian style, the family added the signature gingerbread trim in the Locke family tradition. Now the upstairs floor is comprised of a spacious one-bedroom suite with a balcony overlooking Eaton Street. The downstairs has been split into a one bedroom suite and a separate studio suite, each with a private courtyard lined with bountiful tropical foliage. Have you stayed here? Which room is your favorite?

Another week in paradise! Happy #triviatuesday Our #historic Locke House is named after James William Locke who served as a member of the Florida State Senate from 1870 -1872. Locke was then nominated to the Federal Judicial Service by Ulysses Grant on January 15, 1872 where he remained in place until his retirement. At that time Key West was the largest city, per capita, in the state Florida! Now she's home to 4 amazing 2 bedroom suites and of course the fabulous penthouse 1 bedroom suite at the top! My personal fave! What's yours??

If you've checked in with us or just stopped by you, have been inside of this house..... YUP you guessed it, for this #triviatuesday we're talkin' about The Delaney House! Our breathtaking #historic Delaney House was constructed of Dade County pine and was built by ship's carpenters. She was named after William L. Delaney, who constructed this residence in 1898. Mr. Delaney was a collector for US Customs and served as first vice-president on the Key West Board of Trade. The Delaney House was also selected as one of 38 most significant Key West structures by the Milo Smith Survey of Historic Buildings and is included in the National Register of Historic Places! Nowadays she is home to eight beautifully unique suites and of course, the front desk for The Banyan Resort!
