Jervis Public Library was founded in 1895 in the former home of prominent civil engineer and railroad pioneer John B. Jervis, builder of the Croton Aqueduct for New York City, and inventor of the four-wheel "bogie truck" for railroad locomotives. Jervis Public Library serves the City of Rome, NY, and is one of two regional libraries designated to serve all of Oneida County, NY.
