CMEMSC assists the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) in facilitating excellence in EMS. We are a direct resource for EMT’s, ambulance services, hospitals, and medical directors seeking EMS information to improve quality of care. We have made great strides in disaster planning and equipment preparation.
We also manage Central Medical Emergency Direction (CMED), which provides communications between ambulances and emergency departments. CMED manages communications and ambulance traffic during Mass Casualty Incidents (MCIs) which supports EMS on scene while preventing overwhelming any one hospital.
