The New River Land Trust works to protect farmland, forests, open spaces and historic places in the New River region of Southwest Virginia. We are a local conservation organization that protects the natural, cultural and historic resources right in our backyard.
We work to keep family farms, forests, wildlife habitat, scenic views, water resources and historic places preserved – forever. We work with partners, including local governments, on larger land policy and conservation issues and educate and assist landowners to conserve their land by voluntarily donating conservation easements on their property. We also connect kids to the outdoors through our Youth Education program and the Nature Play Space in Heritage Park, reaching out to the next generation of conservationists.
Since 2002, we have helped protect more than 52,000 acres of land in the region and over 25 miles of New River frontage.
