In 1946, the Muth family became involved with ORCO Block just as the company was to start production. ORCO was founded by Pete Muth, his father, George Muth, his brother-in-law, Frank Hertz, and an outside business partner. At that time, they collectively owned one of the more than 256 concrete block plants in the State of California. Pete's wife, Mary Muth had always maintained an avid interest in ORCO, community affairs, and was a frequent participant in industry association events. In 1975, Pete's son, Rick, joined the company as assistant office manager.
Today, 9 concrete block companies remain. ORCO being one because of their continuation to innovate their product lines to respond to market demands and offer value added services. Rick is now the President of ORCO, and his two daughters Veronica & Stephanie are the 3rd generation to be a part of the family business. Numerous employees have been with ORCO for over 40 years, including the Vice President Dwayne Gleason who has been with the company for nearly 50 years.
