S & S Produce

S&S Produce and Crabhouse opened in 1974 in Red Lion. They are the oldest and only full-time crab operation in York County, because as Steve Reichard puts it, "We do this for a living, not a hobby." They work the entire East Coast crab market. As the temperatures get cooler, they buy crabs farther south, from Maryland all the way to Louisiana.

But the mom and pop shop is so much more than a crabhouse. While they take custom orders for hard shell crabs year-round, they also specialize in all kinds of seafood, including great Gulf shrimp, soft shell crabs, lobster tails, clams, fresh crab meats, oysters, scallops, and all types of fish. You'll also find a wide selection of seasonal produce. While you're in, try their famous York County sharp cheese, available by the pound.

S&S Produce and Crabhouse is the ultimate general store. Aside from seafood and produce, patrons regularly stop in the store for general groceries, propane, cigarettes, and ice cold beer to go. S&S carries over 300 kinds of ice cold beer in store, including a wide selection of what Reichard calls "girly beers."

"We're not fancy, but we're efficient," says Reichard. He cites his dedicated staff for the store's success. "Without them, you're nothing," he says. "We have a great staff of employees."
