Founded in 1979, El Hogar gives around 250 Honduran children a loving home and education each year at our four centers:
At our Elementary School - The Home for Love and Hope - little boys and girls live in a caring environment through the sixth grade. These impoverished and often orphaned children receive love and hope. They learn to pick up their lives and their pride, and come to know the love of the El Hogar family.
Upon graduation from sixth grade, our boys can choose to complete three more years of high school as well as training at our Technical Institute - St Mary's Technical School - to become trained carpenters, welders, or electricians.
Alternatively, boys can attend our Agricultural School in Talanga for three years of training in agriculture and animal husbandry.
When our girls graduate from the sixth grade, they move into our High School program in Santa Lucia. The girls have the option to attend school through eleventh or twelfth grade at a private school called Virginia Sapp. At this school they receive a strong academic education, as well as preparation for University.
