Mid Atlantic Equine Medical

Our in-house veterinary staff is comprised of individuals board-certified in surgery and internal medicine. We have close ties to consulting veterinarians board-certified in theriogenology, ophthalmology, oncology, and cardiology. The MAEMC also has a team of experienced field service veterinarians. Every year, a group of six newly-graduated veterinarians spend a year of intense mentorship and additional training with the MAEMC as interns. We have a support staff comprised of administrative personnel, veterinary technicians and assistants, and barn/grounds crew of over 40 individuals.

The MAEMC campus can house over 36 in-patients at a time. Our facilities were designed with specialized barns and stalls that enable us to provide individualized care and maintain a strict mission of safety and biosecurity.

The surgical suites are well equipped to perform arthroscopic, fracture repair, abdominal, respiratory, and other soft tissue surgeries. Dedicated stocks are available for standing surgical procedures. Laser and electrochemotherapy are available to our surgeons.

Diagnostic capabilities include: nuclear scintigraphy, digital radiography, digital ultrasonography, MRI, standing CT, gastroscopy, resting and over-ground endoscopy, and laboratory diagnostics.

Neonatal ICU is equipped to care for critically ill foals and high risk pregnant mares.

The caseload is comprised of Standardbred and Thoroughbred racehorses, performance horses of all disciplines, broodmares, and pleasure horses, including miniatures horses and donkeys/mules.
