The IBVM Sisters have been in the Chicago area for over 85 years. They began teaching in schools in Chicago on the South side: Loretto Engelwood and Loretto Woodlawn. There were also Sisters teaching at St. Brides and St. Bernards. Expansion grew and the Wheaton property was purchased in 1946. Novices were taught here and in 1951 the Loretto Chapel was built. Today daily Mass is attended by the IBVM Sisters living in Wheaton and on Sundays there is a 9:00 Mass attended by those living in the Wheaton and surrounding suburbs.
