Growing Minds

Growing Minds Learning Center in Berky offers a high quality educational program for children of all ages. The center’s philosophy pulls from the independence of the Montessori method and combines with the natural flow of development for each child in the Reggio Emilia approach. Children learn best when they are exploring subjects that interest them. Growing Minds cultivates deeper studies with multiple opportunities to build strong roots in language arts, science, math and social studies by building from the natural development and interest of each child. The day-to-day activities are guided by the children’s curiosity. When a child is truly interested in something, they will learn the most. Children develop emotional attachments to familiarity that creates strong bonds of knowledge and understanding. The students of Growing Minds gain independence and self-confidence through their explorations in the center’s environment.
The low ratios of the center ensure that each child is met at their development level. With one-to-one time teachers are able to assess each child’s achievements and know the advancing steps the child is ready to make.
Growing Minds has taken child development to the next level in understanding the importance of children in nature. The center is active with the “No Child Left Inside!” movement. Studies have shown that children who spend time outdoors have lower stress levels, are more physically fit, have better social and emotional development, a greater level of creativity and imagination, fewer attention lapses and their overall learning ability significantly improves. The foundation of the center’s nature approach is build upon the research and studies from Dimensions of the Arbor Day Foundation. Growing Minds is proudly the first and currently only preschool in Ohio to be certified through Dimensions.
