Greg McKenzie's building legacy goes all the way back to 1916 when his grandfather, (Red) McKenzie, was born in Montgomery County. Red made Montgomery and Toombs counties his home. In 1934 Red married his childhood sweetheart, Tossie Williams. Together they raised four sons, Max, Glen, Theron, and Ronnie.

Red's constructions career began in 1952 soon after his return form a tour of duty in the Army. The business encompassed every aspect of construction from digging the footers to roofing. Meticulous attention to detail was his trademark.

In 1962, second son, Glen, also and Army veteran, joined his father's company. He and his wife, Geraldine Cook, became the parents of their only child, Greg.

In the 1980s, Glen began to expand the business primarily in residential homes but also branched into light commercial for the first time. By the end of the decade, multiple high end homes were completed yearly.

In 1984, Glen's son, Greg, enrolled at Georgia Southern University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction. While attending GSU, Greg was awarded the Homebuilder's Scholarship. Upon graduation in 1988, Greg began to work with his father. The company was still focused on residential jobs but was beginning to tackle larger commercial jobs such as apartment complexes.

In 1995, Greg McKenzie Builders, Inc. was founded to provide and outlet by which the business could focus on commercial jobs. (Bonding and specialized insurance is required on most high-end commercial jobs.)

Today Greg McKenzie Builders, Inc. is equiped to tackle virtally any residental or moderately sized commercial project. The future of the company rests on the spotless reputation for quality and excellence the company has developed over the years.
