Dear Baltimore, Word travels fast in a small town so many of you might already be aware of the big news here in the museum. At the end of this week, I will be stepping down as the director at the Baltimore Museum. My time spent here has been an absolute pleasure and I have so enjoyed meeting many of you and discovering the unique history of this town ( or should I say two towns). I have had the opportunity to work with a museum board that has been flexible and willing to implement change in order to enhance this local gem of a museum. The decision to leave was one I took very seriously, but in the end I decided that I needed to return to the classroom. I can very happily say that I will be the new 8th-12th grade Art Teacher at Liberty Union Middle and High School and I'm very much looking forward to continuing the community connections that I have already established in Baltimore and I'm looking forward to making even more and meeting the local students. As the museum transitions into hiring a new director, I will still assist in some weekly office work to ensure that we respond to phone calls, emails, Face Book, Griley House rentals, etc. Once it is available, the posting on how to apply for this position will be available on our website, as well as the Ohio Museum Association webpage. Thank you for all of your stories and insightful visits. You made me feel very welcome to your community! Remember you can always support your local museum by volunteering to host, participating in research or donating a monetary gift to continue preservation projects. Books and historical newspaper cds are still for sale. Museum hours will now be Sundays only, when we can be staffed by volunteers. Hopefully we can resume a fuller schedule within the next few months. with sincere thanks, Lauren Martin
