For more than seventy-five years, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board has discouraged alcohol abuse through its responsible selling practices and its comprehensive licensing requirements. In 1994, the PLCB established the Bureau of Alcohol Education as an integral part of its mission to protect the health and welfare of its consumers. Since that time, the Bureau has been in the forefront in fostering the PLCB’s national reputation for innovation and leadership in the areas of alcohol education.

The Office of Regulatory Affairs Bureau of Alcohol Education is responsible for administering a comprehensive outreach program dedicated to preventing the misuse of alcohol including: underage drinking, dangerous drinking, impaired driving and any use of alcohol that causes abuse or negative consequences. To accomplish this mission, the Bureau develops and maintains multi-faceted initiatives to educate the public about the negative consequences associated with alcohol abuse and leads or participates in prevention efforts to reduce the consequences of inappropriate alcohol use.
