Eastland United Methodist Church was founded September 11, 1955 by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Taylor and Rev. and Mrs. Cephas Haynes. In March of 1956 Eastland officially joined the Richmond District of the Virginia Annual Conference of the Methodist Church. In March of 1957, a lot and house were purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pitts. The house on Courthouse Road was remodeled to become a church. In 1962, Rev. Haynes was transferred and Eastland received a student pastor. Plans were made for a new building, and groundbreaking for the new church was held Mother's Day May 11, 1980. The first worship service was Father's Day, June 21, 1981. Eastland started as a church on a small country road, but today, over 50 years since it's founding, she shines as a beacon in our community to lead others in the path of our Lord and Savior. Eastland has remained a small church in size, but is a BIG church at heart.
