Driver Requirements

DSI requirements vary depending on our clients' need:
1. minimum of two (2) years of recent CDL "A" experience
2. a clean MVR with no DOT defined accidents in the last three (3) years
3. no convictions of any serious offense in the past seven (7) years in any type of
motor vehicle
4. a stable work history
are our standard guidelines for hiring.

Drug and Alcohol

DSI does a pre-employment drug testing and has our employees on a random testing program for both controlled substance and alcohol, utilizing the services of a Third Party Administrator, MedDirect, which fulfills the DOT requirements at the 50% rate for controlled substance and 10% for alcohol testing annually for FMCSA. PHMSA drug testing in currently at 25%

All procedures are followed according to 49 CFR parts 382 and Part 40 for purposes of alcohol and controlled substances testing under Department of Transportation Regulations.

MedDirect is an established company for almost two decades and have packaged turn-key drug testing for DOT compliance that is a well-established leader in the industry.

Background Check Process

DSI personally checks employment background with past employers for the previous three (3) years. When applicable, an employment history report (DAC) will be requested from HireRight.

Furthermore, DSI performs a criminal background check on all applicants.

Safety/Orientation

DSI works with each client to customize a safety and orientation procedure before dispatch. We help manage risk and share it with our customers, resulting in reduced insurance costs and improved customer service. Safety is also the most important benefit we provide our drivers. To promote safety among our drivers, a "Safety Handout" is given to each driver for review each month.

If necessary, our safety manager will work with your staff to develop an orientation program geared specific to your drivers.

Program Review and Reporting

DSI will make follow-up calls and periodic scheduled site visits once a driver has been dispatched. We will work closely with our customer's supervisors to ensure their complete satisfaction.

Workers Compensation and Payroll Taxes

DSI pays employee and employer related taxes and Work Compensation Insurance for all employees. We comply with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations governing employment authorization and screening, including but not limited to completing and maintaining Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 for all temporary workers assigned to our customers.

DSI handles all unemployment claims and workers compensation claims.
