Thirty years. That’s how long Dave McGhan has been hiking in Flagstaff for the Climb to Conquer Cancer, an annual fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Dave, a customer project manager at APS, started as a hiker, then went on to become an APS volunteer team leader, and later served as a board member. “Cancer touches us all and I have my own stories of loved ones and friends I have lost. But that’s not what this event is about. It’s more about the 16-year-old I met years ago when she was battling cancer. She and I became great friends. We’re like family now. When she goes through the finish line every year at the top of the mountain she feels like she’s beaten cancer again.” “Why am I hooked? Why do I stay? It is stories like this.” You can sign up and join Dave for the Flagstaff Climb to Conquer Cancer at http://bit.ly/2vfskTZ.
