The (nearly) Total Eclipse is only days away (dun, dun, dun). With that in mind, lets go over a list of Do's and Don'ts for experiencing the Eclipse safely. #EclipseReady (The second photo contains the warnings and certifications printed on certified eclipse glasses, made by American Paper Optics, for your reference.) Do's: *Wear your eclipse glasses the entire time you're viewing it. None of our communities will experience a total eclipse and the glasses must be worn at all times. The glasses should only be used for three minutes of continuous viewing at a time, intermittently over several hours. *Only use glasses or filters that have ISO 12312-2 certification for direct viewing of the Eclipse. *Only use glasses that have been manufactured recently. Older glasses do not meet the newer vision protection standards. *Do check your glasses or filters for damage before using them. Any wrinkles or punctures to the lenses mean that your eyes will not be fully protected during the event. *Do only clean the lenses lightly with a soft cloth or tissue, if absolutely necessary. Be very gentle when touching the lens film. Don'ts: *Don't look at the eclipse with anything other than ISO certified glasses or filters. Your sunglasses, homemade filters, or other device will not protect your eyes regardless of how dark the tint may be. *Don't use any kind of magnifying device with approved eclipse glasses or filters. This includes cameras. binoculars, magnifying glass, etc. Each of these items need a separate eclipse filter. Your eclipse glasses are not able to protect your eyes from magnified light from the eclipse. *Do not look at the eclipse, even with approved eclipse glasses, if you are currently being treated for an eye disease or have recently had eye surgery.

According to a recent VSP Vision Care Survey, a surprising number of children are missing one of the most important back to school items: clear vision. Parents, make sure your child's back to school list includes an eye exam this year. #ClearVisionEqualsLearning

The. Struggle. Is. Real. There are certainly a roller coaster of emotions with the start of the school year for students. We want to wish all our communities' students, throughout Kentuckiana, a wonderful start to their school year. #BackToSchool #RollercoasterOfEmotions

Let's stare at the sun (safely, of course) with our eclipse glasses. They're being sent out to the offices today and every eye exam next week (August 14th-19th) will be given a free pair of eclipse glasses (while supplies last). Get ready to get eclipsed! #Eclipse2017 #NiceGlasses
