Norwalk's "Nonprofit of the Year," Carver reaches more than 5,000 individuals each year through educational, enrichment and recreational programs, as well as summer camp and spring and fall college tours. Carver is Norwalk’s key advocate and agent for closing the Achievement Gap. Carver works with elementary to high school students throughout Norwalk. In addition to its community center, free after-school programs led by certified teachers and other qualified staff and volunteers are established within Norwalk’s four middle schools and two high schools. Carver provides tutoring in all subjects, hands-on science, the provision of standardized testing during the school day, and assistance with the college application and financial aid process.
