Right in the middle of food season, that’s where the Holidays are.
Lashings of turkey, ham, and vegetables, ready to feed family and friends from afar.
But how does all of this stuff get here, to the grocery store we know so well?
It’s through a complex temp-controlled supply chain, so take a seat, get comfy, and I’ll tell.
It starts with our dedicated farmers, growing and raising the foods that we eat.
And then it moves to the commercial chefs, who create wonderful foods with milk, grains, vegetables, fish and meat.
It’s done on such massive scale, the volumes would simply astound you,
But keep something in mind, this food is for everyone, all around you
It still has to make it to the store. Grocery stores don’t take it yet.
So companies work with Americold, who keep an eye on it until they’re all-set.
You see, we help food producers and retailers with lots of things: we help freeze, and package, and store.
We even help with labeling. And sequencing, repackaging and more.
We have a dedicated team of 11,000 associates, who work hard every day
In giant freezers, and giant refrigerators – giant storage facilities in every way
Their activities are essential, running like clockwork: efficient and fast.
Loading and unloading trucks each day. Every day, all day until the last.
Onwards it moves, these pallets of food, it’s time to get to the store. From here the food travels to the retailer. Through their DC and to the shop floor
So now for the final part of the journey: From the store to your kitchen then dish
And then you get to enjoy your meal, which really is our only wish.
Thank you to all involved. You’ve worked hard and you deserve a cheer. From all of us at Americold, thank you, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
