Who we are:
The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Across the , 2,687 Ys engage 21 million men, women and children – regardless of age, income or background – to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation’s health and well-being and provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. Anchored in more than 10,000 communities, the Y has the long-standing relationships and physical presence not just to promise, but to deliver, lasting personal and social change.

Our Cause:
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn grow and thrive.

Our Impact:
The Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, families and communities. Every day our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good.

The YMCA of Abilene was chartered in 1947 by the National Council of YMCAs, and has remained in good standing for over 65 years. Managed by a team of volunteers and staff, the Y employees over 150 part-time and full-time staff to deliver it’s mission.
