Founded in 1972 by Mary Loyer, Litchfield resident, who organized a group of supporting parents and opened a small school so that her children could have a Montessori education. Located in the Northfield hamlet of Litchfield, the school sits in a rural area adjacent to play areas, fields and woods that provide a natural learning environment accessible from each classroom.
For over 40 years, Litchfield Montessori School has grown into a vital and thriving home for the education of children and their families.
