Here is a little bit of history on your local grocery store! Jim and Dorothy Ward were the original owners of Jim's Super Market. Jim started out as the meat cutter and produce manager at the Banks Grocery store. In 1970 he was able to make a deal to buy the grocery store from the owners at the time. Jim managed the store and Dorothy took care of the books and three children. They decided to name the store Jim's Super Market, locals simply refer to the store as "Jim's." When Jim and Dorothy took over the store there were two employees and 3000 sq ft of selling space. By the early 80s' they realized that they were out growing their current location (which is now the Banks Christian Academy). In 1985 "Jim's" became the anchor tenant of the newly built Oak Village Shopping Center. The store now has 50 employees and 16,000 sq ft of selling space. "Jim's" has always been a big part of the Banks Community and supports various fundraising activities throughout the Banks area. "Jim's" went through a major remodel in 2004 giving the store a more modern look and joined the Thriftway group at that time. In 2005 Mark and Karen Ward became the owners and are the 2nd generation of the family to run the supermarket.
