Wilkes-Barre Academy is a non-sectarian, non-profit and fully accredited elementary/middle school founded in 1987. Wilkes-Barre Academy is affiliated with Small Wonders Day Care School. Small Wonders Day Care School was founded in 1978 to serve the needs of working and single parents of the greater Wyoming Valley by offering an enriched day care program for infants through pre-kindergarten students. Kindergarten was added in 1980.
Wilkes-Barre Academy was established in 1987 to meet the needs of parents wishing to provide their children with the most well rounded education and care possible. The founders of Small Wonders Day Care School evaluated the opportunities and concluded that our community did not offer a comprehensive program that fulfilled the requirements of working parents. Wilkes-Barre Academy provides a classroom setting that allows for the close interaction among teachers, students, and parents on a daily basis. This unique combination of elementary/middle school education with before and after school care in one facility is a service that was previously unavailable in the community
