More about the Woodcrest Preschool curriculum:

The Masters Art Program at Woodcrest Preschool goes way beyond art education. We believe that the arts can potentially help children excel in other academic areas, particularly in reading and mathematics. Our program is unique in that it focuses on a new Master artist each month (such as Van Gogh, Matisse and others) and allows the children learn the differences between artistic styles and mediums. We help children become creative thinkers and develop self-confidence as they learn to express themselves in unique ways using different mediums.

“Art” you ready to meet your budding Van Gogh?
We believe each child has the potential to be a master artist. Through the exploration of masters such as Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse, we allow our students to express themselves in a unique way using different mediums. We offer an all-inclusive curriculum through:

HANDS-ON ANIMAL EXPLORATION:

Animals and handlers visit the preschool on a regular basis to explain concepts like omnivore,
nocturnal, cold blooded, what makes an animal a reptile and why mammals have fur. The
programs helps children to see themselves as part of a larger system of natural life and instill
values of respect for all living creatures.

YOGA FOR KIDS ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:

Our yoga program provides an opportunity for your children to explore movement in a fun and
supportive environment, helping children with strategies that build resilience they need to
adapt to the busy world in which they live.

GARDENING ENRICHMENT PROGRAM:

The gardening program at Woodcrest Preschool allows children to interact with their environment
by planting, maintaining, harvesting and feasting on their own fruits and vegetables.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM:

Children will move from the inside environment to the natural environment to learn about
natural life cycles, collect rocks, observe weather patterns, observe insects, and plants.
Weather permitting of course.

COOKING HEALTH FOODS:

Children are given the opportunity to participate in fun, developmentally appropriate
cooking experiences. They learn about nutrition, healthy eating, recipes, ingredients,
cooking vocabulary and much more.

LANGUAGE & CULTURES FROM AROUND THE WORLD:

Our curriculum includes lessons on greetings, stories, numbers, colors, animals, and family.
Children will be introduced to cultures from around the world through dance, language and
exchange of cultural activites. The program builds self-esteem, promotes literacy, and age appropriate language recognition.

MEET THE AUTHOR:

Each month a children’s author is featured. The children learn about the author and their books during story time and in the classroom
library center.
