Porter Scientific Inc, a North Carolina based company, was founded in 1997 and is one of the largest American Indian-owned businesses in the state. SBA HUBZone and WOSB certified, Porter Scientific provides smart solutions to environmental problems from start to finish. Porter Scientific primarily serves large governmental organizations, local governments, and commercial entities throughout the nation focusing on environmental studies, waste management, regulatory compliance, water and sewer infrastructure, pollution prevention, remediation, and research and development. Engineering and Construction Management Services are provided through Porter Scientific’s affiliate and in-house engineering firm, PSCI Engineers, PLLC. License P-0980. While Porter Scientific gains the majority of its business from the Department of Defense, we have contracted with EPA, DOT, and have worked on Hurricane Sandy relief efforts with FEMA.

Dr. Freda Porter, President and CEO of Porter Scientific Inc, has more than 35 years of teaching, research, consulting, and management experience as a University Professor and Defense Contractor. Fifteen of those years have been devoted to researching and applying innovative technologies to protect and restore our environment. As a Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science, she has directed Mathematics and Environmental Science enrichment programs inspiring students to pursue STEM careers. As a Defense Contractor she has managed computer facility support, environmental compliance, construction quality assurance, and R&D contracts for DoD and DOI. Through her management of four EPA Brownfields Assessment and Job Training Programs, individuals have been trained as environmental technicians and jobs have been created. National business affiliations have allowed her to help advance economic development initiatives among her tribe and community.
