Kids Kicking Cancer was founded by Rabbi/Professor Elimelech Goldberg, who is both a black belt in the martial arts and a father who lost his first child, a 2-year-old daughter, to cancer in 1983.
We use martial arts breathing, meditation and movement to empower children beyond their pain, fear and anger. Rather than allowing children to view themselves as victims of disease, Kids Kicking Cancer trains pediatric cancer patients to see themselves as capable and important participants in their own healing.
By sharing their deep breathing techniques with others, our kids are able to help adults reduce the physical and emotional burdens of stress in their lives. The motivation that the children bring to others, in turn, inspires and empowers them again to better manage the stress and pain of their disease.
This change in the psychological and emotional outlook of the children is dramatic. Instead of emphasizing all the things that pediatric cancer patients cannot do, Kids Kicking Cancer focuses on all the things they can do.
