Whatever you enjoy doing on vacation, you can do it here in The Quiet Resorts. Bicycle on well-marked lanes along the coast and countryside, kayak or sail on the ocean or bay, or tee off on one of our championship golf courses. For more relaxing outdoor activities, fish or crab from a tranquil pier, or grab a book and relax on our pristine beaches. Recent beach replenishment projects have expanded the beaches and built up the dunes in Bethany Beach, South Bethany, and Fenwick Island.
During your stay, get acquainted with our rich history. Fenwick Island is home to an historic 89-foot tall lighthouse built in 1858. Fire control towers, built by the Army during World War II to protect the coast from invasion, still stand along the shore. Local museums, such as the Indian River Lifesaving Station, tell of our area’s rich maritime history, while a “whispering giant,” the 24-foot tall wooden sculpture Chief Little Owl stands in downtown Bethany Beach to honor our Native American heritage.
