In response to a call, signed by Herbert J. Harwood, George A. Sanderson and Frank B. Priest a group of interested citizens formed the Historical Society on June 11, 1894. The Society was incorporated in 1896 with the object to collect and preserve manuscripts, printed books, pamphlets, historical facts, biographical anecdotes, historical relics and to stimulate research in local history-a mission which continues. Today, the Society thrives in the midst of a continually changing Littleton.
