The food bank program provides boxes of food to our neighbors based on the size of the family. We depend on donations of money and food from our member churches and individuals in our community, from various corporations in Marion County, from food drives in the schools, from the annual National Cornbread Festival in South Pittsburg. The food bank is open from 10am until noon on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday of each week except for major holidays.
In May of 2008 MCCM initiated another ministry to help our neighbors who are struggling with paying their utility bills.
Marion County residents, neighbors, who have need of assistance with their utility bills to avoid a disconnection of service from a utility provider will be referred usually by member churches or from the United Way of Greater Chattanooga 211 hotline. While neighbors do not need a referral, a pastoral referral is encouraged. Good Neighbors is open on Tuesdays only, from 10am until noon except for major holidays.
