Stahly Engineering & Associates, a full service civil engineering and survey firm, believes that building positive relationships by delivering quality services is the key to our success. Personal involvement from owners and project managers in individual projects performed and the communities we serve strengthens our commitment to our clients' goals. Stahly Engineering provides engineering services in the fields of transportation, site development, water and wastewater systems, and structures. We also assist public and private clients with planning, grand writing and administration, GIS, all types of survey services, and construction inspection.

The inspiration behind Stahly Engineering’s business philosophy is the founder, J. David Stahly (Dave). "It was Dave's ethics and family values that drew me to Stahly Engineering in the first place," states Greg Benjamin, one of the current owners of the firm. "We intend to carry on the legacy of what he started."

Moving his family to Helena from Arizona in the late 1960’s, Dave was working on a project for an Arizona based firm. He and his young family liked Helena so much they decided to stay. Staying in the area meant starting an independent firm. Stahly Engineering’s foundation was made solid with the help of the entire Stahly family. Dave’s wife Carol along with Mark, Mike, Byron, Alana and Dan all participated in various jobs as the company grew.

"Dad's influence on us was always by example," Byron Stahly said. "What Stahly Engineering is today is a direct result of Dad's life principals of hard work and integrity. I know how valuable an influence in my personal and professional life my father has been.”

Byron, a professional engineer ( ) leads the company today along with his brother Dan, and the Bozeman office manager, Greg Benjamin, The firm has recently developed an ownership transition plan that will make the firm entirely employee owned. New ownership interest in the business starting in 2013 is associate principals Mike Meredith, ; Robie Culver; Clint Smith, ; Ryan Rittal, ; Kurt Thomson, ; and Cordell Pool, These individuals are committed to continuing the legacy of service begun by the Stahly family by nurturing personal relationships with their clients, the communities they serve, and the employees that are the backbone of the company’s success.
