Steve Brown began his insurance career in 1975 as a life and health agent. In 1982 Steve and his family moved to the Vidalia / Toombs-Montgomery County area to establish the Stephen Brown Insurance Agency and represent Cotton States Insurance Company. Realizing that no one insurance company had the expertise to underwrite all the various insurance plans needed by diverse families and businesses he initiated action in 1995 to purchase the Gibson Agency, a local independent insurance agency whose origins began in the 1950’s. In 2009 Steve’s son, Blake, joined the agency after having moved back from Macon, GA where he worked with a large independent agency specializing in commercial insurance. In 2010 the agency’s name was changed to Brown Insurance Group (BIG). Brown Insurance Group is a “Trusted Choice” agency which represents many companies that offer personal and commercial lines of insurance. Brown Insurance Group only represents companies who have a proven history of superior service and have strong financials including an Best rating of “A” or better. The agency’s goal is to not only provide great service with competitively priced products, but to develop relationships with each client, to analyze their needs and protect their assets as if they were their own. The agency’s staff credentials include designations for: Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) and Life Underwriter Training Council Fellowship (LUTCF).
