The Godley Park District was established by referendum November 11, 1982 to provide recreational facilities and programs. In 1984 a 47-acre site was purchased to be developed into a park. The property was named the K-Mine Park, in recognition of the abandoned mineshaft located on the property and for the contribution coal mining has made to the area. Construction was completed in May 1992 on the Community Center. The Fitness Center addition was completed in 1994. In 2003 the Child Care wing and an expansion onto our Fitness Center were completed.
