Midweek Baseball is an organization dedicated to providing adult amateur baseball players with the opportunity to play real hardball (not softball) while leaving weekends to family activities. Midweek offers baseball leagues in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens Counties in New York. In the spring and summer Midweek's games are Sunday through Friday evenings. No Saturdays and no Sunday day games. Age divisions include 18+, 25+, 35+ and 48+. 18+ offers both wood or metal bat. All other divisions are only wood bat.

What is "Midweek" baseball?
No games on Saturday or Sunday mornings or afternoons, except in the fall league. Summer season games are evenings, Sundays through Fridays, most often Mondays through Fridays. The spring/summer league has different 18+, 25+, 35+ skill divisions and a 48+ wood bat division. The Fall league will has Metal and Wood 18+, 25+ age and 35+ and 45+ wood divisions. The exact number and type of divisions offered depends on the number and type of teams actually registering for any particular season.


How long are the seasons?
The spring/summer regular season starts in mid April and ends in early August. Playoffs continue to the end of August. The Fall season starts in early September and goes to the middle of November.


Games: How many, what time, where and how long?
The average spring/summer schedule is 19 games; approximately 65% of all games 6:00 The balance are 7:00 or later starts; Fields are in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Scheduling is done according to geographic proximity of teams to fields; all games are 7 innings.

The Fall league is an 11 game schedule and playoffs; 9 inning games; Metal and Wood 18+, 25+, Wood Only 35+, 45+ age divisions; ALL NIGHT GAMES (7 or later) Mondays through Fridays all day and night on Saturdays and Sundays. The fall league also offers teams the option to play games only weekends but that requires that teams play both days and nights of the weekend.

How much does it cost?
The Year 2010 league fee is $160 per player plus an $80 per team internet fee for each team's web site plus a $150 per team medical insurance surcharge; Year 2010 Fall league fee will be $1, per team (includes team web site) (FALL: minimum 12 maximum 20 player roster size). Teams also charge players for the cost of umpires and balls. Some teams are sponsored thus reducing player costs. The league does not regulate team charges to players. Uniforms are additional and are on an individual team basis. SUMMER: Teams must have a minimum of 14 players and cannot have more than 25 on their rosters.

ALL TEAM FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL BEFORE THE START OF EACH SEASON.

How do I get on a team?
The league does not hold tryouts. A draft is held at each managers' meeting based on free agent player information submitted to the league in time for the meeting. Players from the free agent list are also referred to those teams that tell the league that they need players. Players wishing to be listed on the referral list maintained by the league should provide the league with: Name, telephone number, home address, town/city/place of work, age, height, weight, position(s), most recent baseball experience ( MSBL, MABL, Stan Musial, College, Pro etc.), and if no recent experience, the highest level of BASEBALL previously played ( , high school, college, Stan Musial, semi-pro, minor or major league). NOTE: Former professional ball players must be out of professional ball a minimum of 3 years to be eligible to play in the leagues.


When is the best time to register as a player?
December through March is the time when most spring/summer teams needing players contact the league. July is the best time to register for the Fall season. THE EARLIER YOU REGISTER, THE BETTER!

How do I enter a team in the league?
Contact the league office as soon as possible to get on the managers' mailing list for the next available season. The spring/summer league holds 2 mandatory managers' meetings, usually the 3rd Wednesday in January and the 3rd Wednesday in March. Meetings are held at the Marriott Hotel in Uniondale at 8:00 The Fall league holds 1 mandatory managers' meeting in early August. Fall League meeting is on the 2nd Wednesday in August at 8:00 at the Marriott Hotel.

A $500 MINIMUM DEPOSIT IS DUE AT THE JANUARY MEETING FOR THE SPRING/SUMMER SEASON OR AT THE AUGUST MEETING FOR THE FALL SEASON.
