Senator Harold French gathered with parents, community leaders, and child care providers on Monday evening (5/22) to discuss the challenges working families face due to the high cost of child care in the granite state. The meeting was one of a number of in district conversations held between advocates, including the campaign for a Family Friendly Economy and lawmakers during the states budget process. In response to a request for his support for funding for the child care scholarship program in the state budget Senator French said, "We will be fighting in the Senate to keep the funding intact for families in the district." "The children in our care are at a truly critical time in their development," said Marti Ilg, Executive Director of Lakes Region Child Care Services. "Our ability to offer quality, affordable care options to parents of young children means these parents will be able to stay in the workforce, and their children will be able to grow to their full potential as the next generation of granite staters."
