In-Pact was founded in 1980 by parents of children with autism to create an array of services to enable these children to be maintained in their own local communities. In-Pact, Inc. was incorporated in 1980 as People for Autistic Citizens, Inc. Articles of Incorporation were amended in 1987 to change the agency’s name to In-Pact, Inc. The agency received its 501(c)3 tax exempt status in 1980.
Original headquarters were housed in the basement of the old Ben Franklin store at the corner of Main and Joliet Streets in Crown Point. Offices were later moved to 182 West North Street in Crown Point.
Following a major capital fund raising campaign in 1997 and with funds and contributions from local government, the business community and the private sector, new corporate headquarters were built on the existing site at 12300 Marshall Street in Crown Point.
