In 1948 the first Affy Tapple was created by the Kastrup family. According to history, this was the first caramel apple created in the United States, thus our tagline “The Original Caramel Apple!”
In 1952 the Kastrup family opened an Affy Tapple store in Chicago. Why the name Affy Tapple? So it would be the first name in the phone book!
Since the 1960’s, schools have sold Affy Tapples as program fundraisers. As the years have passed Affy Tapple has also become available in grocery stores all over the Chicagoland area.
In 1995 the Kastrups sold the company and in 2000 Affy Tapple moved to its new state of the art facility located at 7425 N. Croname Road in Niles, IL.
Continuing to be a Chicago favorite, we still use the same caramel recipe developed by Mrs. Edna Kastrup in 1948!
