The Abraham Group is an international strategic consulting firm headed by former Energy Secretary and Senator, Spencer Abraham. In addition to Secretary Abraham, the firm's other Principals are: Joseph McMonigle, former Chief of Staff at the Department of Energy and Vice Chairman of the International Energy Agency; and Bob Carey, a former senior official at the Departments of Energy and Defense. Each of the firm's Principals has extensive experience working at senior levels in Congress, the Executive Branch and international affairs.
During his four years as Secretary of Energy, Secretary Abraham developed a close working relationship with the corporate leadership of energy companies as well as many energy-intensive companies. He launched several important energy studies involving CEOs and other top private sector leaders on many energy issues including nuclear, oil and natural gas, coal, and hydrogen. As Secretary, he was also recognized as an experienced, steady leader during times of crisis, including the California and Northeast blackouts as well as a liaison with OPEC leaders during the lead up to the war in Iraq.
