Jim Witmer, Founder and CEO, and also a Fire Chief at his local station, first got into the Fire Industry back in 1994 with the launch of Gearmasters, which is a complete line of Turnout Gear Storage Solutions for Fire Stations.
Two years later, Witmer noticed that members of his fire department were stripping parts off of brand new helmets to replace broken parts on their current helmets. As a Chief, he tried unsuccessfully to locate the parts from local distributors, so after contacting the major helmet manufacturers and telling them about his idea, was born. It was the first website that catered to Fire Fighters. The site had a small focus as the name implied and only sold replacement parts for repairing fire helmets.
After great success with Gearmasters and , Witmer decided that it was necessary to transition into the full line focus that was so desperately needed in the industry. In 1999, was launched and became an instant success story. TheFireStore has become the premier online store for Fire Fighters and EMS and is continuing to expand its lines to completely cover the needs of these public servants.
